A REAL FEDERAL CREDIT

Why donors give through CEN SGO's federal credit.

A real credit, not a deduction

A federal tax credit applied dollar for dollar against what you already owe. Different from a charitable deduction — and much bigger on net.

America's SGO designed exclusively by and for Christian schools.

Eight years operating. $9.4M+ in scholarship dollars deployed across 31 states and 210+ participating K-12 Christian schools.

Stacks with your state program

EdChoice, Step Up, GOAL, OSTC — the federal credit is for a charitable gift to an SGO. It runs alongside the state credit you already use, not against it.

CPA-ready paperwork

Donor receipts generated automatically. Attestation captured at the donor level. Records your CPA and the auditor accept without follow-up.

How giving with the federal credit works

Watch the giving flow, then walk the three steps.

01

You give

Give to an SGO or directly to a participating Christian school.

02

You receive the credit

THE RIPPLE EFFECT

One gift. Four real shifts.

A single redirected dollar moves four levers at once — pay, retention, access, and stability. Here's what each one looks like in practice.

Better teacher pay

Schools can raise tuition above the voucher floor and pay teachers what they’re worth.

Lower teacher turnover

Better pay means more continuity for students and stronger formation over time.

More access for families

Scholarships open the door for families who otherwise couldn’t afford a Christian school.

Tuition stability for the long run

A predictable scholarship pool means tuition doesn’t have to absorb every shock.

From the focus groups, Winter Haven, FL

Christian families already pay for public schools they don't use. A credit for the Christian alternative they do use is overdue.

"The SGO finally lets us set tuition where it needs to be — and that means we can pay teachers what they deserve. The scholarship pool also means more families who want a Christian education can actually afford one. Both shifts in the same year."

Carry-forward window

The credit doesn't expire if you can't use it all in year one. Banking it forward is built in.

"It stacks cleanly with our state program. We didn't have to choose."

Operations director

Classical Christian school, TX

"I came in skeptical — I'd seen enough SGO pitches over the years to know what an overpromise looks like. The walkthrough answered every question my board asked, in the order they asked it. We were operational by the next enrollment cycle."

The questions donors ask first.

You give to an SGO. You receive a federal tax credit dollar-for-dollar. Your gift funds scholarships.

You can designate your gift to fund a scholarship at a specific school or you can designate the general fund and it will fund a scholarship for a student most in need.

Yes. The federal credit is separate from any state program. They stack.
We have materials your advisor can use. Request the packet on the donor page and we’ll send it over.
This program is for Christian schools as defined by CEN. The full definition lives in the Resources article on qualifying schools.
K-12 Christian school education. Not pre-school. Not higher education.

A clear breakdown of pass-through and overhead lives in the Resources article on where the money goes. The short version: at least 90%of every dollar reaches a school.
